LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Aaaaaaaahh :D!
Glad to hear you like it :3
I went back to listen to your cover, and you should definitely make a remake using your current magical powers and abilities! >:D

Thanks for listening <33

Well done! :D
I saw that wiring pic on FB! I actually really like seeing those :D Too bad I don't have Reason *sad*
I really like your take on the pic with this track! It's pretty nice honestly. :3
Best of luck with the competition! \^o^/

Quarl responds:

Thanks Phyrnna!

I skipped listening to it here and opted to watch you play it instead. :3 Much better that way~! ^o^/
Methinks you should get a recording with a decent mic. And a piano bench that doesn't make noises every time you shift your butt in it :P
Those runs tho, I should really try some in my next improv session. c:
Where do you go btw? o.o

Keep it up~!

~Phyrnna ^_^

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Hellooo :'3

Thank you for watching me play, even if it's just a silly bad angled video with even worse sound xD
Yeah, of course it'd be better to record this with a proper microphone. But even if I brought my own Røde microphone, it isn't really suited for getting a great sound out of a piano (at least not without a proper mic stand to angle it). And I don't really want to ask the music teacher for permission to borrow some microphones just for a random improv xD

Eventually, I hope to record something with real microphones again. But I'll probably save that untilI want to make a piano album or something :p
As for the piano bench, I actually adds the sense of realism it adds :D

Yeah, please try to do the runs! They can sound pretty cool, whether they're perfect or not :')

I'm playing this at my university. We have 9 piano rooms in the cellar floor, which are intended to use for practice. I'm studying to become a teacher, in general (for primary/elementary level), and being able to teach music is one of the requirements. This parcticular room, happens to have a well kept Yamaha piano in it, so if it's available, I often spend about an hour or more there almost three times a week.

One of the reasons I ended this improv so abruptly, is because someone wanted to come in, apparently to borrow a guitar that was also in that same room!

Thanks for listening, watching, and for leaving a nice review :DDD

Well done!
I like the song overall and you have nice guitar parts. I personally prefer more reverb but I can understand not having it on.
That said, as a piano focused person myself, your piano's sounded very thin and unrealistic. I would suggest emulating use of the pedal by dragging out the notes to fill the measures. Also adding a very subtle quarter beat timed delay can help.
Keep it up~!

Dylnmatrix responds:

Thanks Phyrnna!

The piano was actually a purposeful design choice this time :) Hence the use being very limited compared to previous works. My focus was more on the guitar riffs and drums when I was writing. But those tips are very helpful for the project I'm working on now, so thanks for that!

It didn't even occur to me to put reverb on the guitar the whole time. There's a lot of reverb at the end, but it's turned off during the track. I'll try that out!

I love when tracks I post now end up being catalysts for making the tracks I happen to be working on now even better.

This is very well done! :O
I really enjoyed listening to it and I think your mix between genres is pretty awesome! :D
Keep up the wonderful work!

Step responds:

Phyrnna! Thank you for stopping by!

Glad you enjoyed this. I'm happy with how it turned out. Thanks again.

Great track, at least from just this teaser~!
That said my only complaint would be that the piano is super subdued for my taste, but then again I have a bias towards that instrument haha

Dylnmatrix responds:

Thanks Phyrnna! I agree that the piano is really subdued in the mix, but it's been a royal pain in my ass to mix in. Right now it's a million times better than it was in the first couple renders, where barely anything was audible underneath the kick, and the last render had the piano too loud and overpowering all the synths, so this is the happy medium we got to.

This sounds very excellent! :O
Very well done and I'll go check out the game~! :D

ForgottenDawn responds:

Hey there! Thanks :D I hope you enjoy the game!

I'm very sure they enjoyed it nonetheless~!
That said, I can understand where you're coming from and I agree, this track does lack some of your usual charm. I hope you can get some rest for your creative mind so it can recharge~! \^o^/ <3
Great job nonetheless and have a very happy holidays!

Merry Christmas~! ^.^/ Unfortunately I couldn't finish my Christmas piece... oh wells. xD;;;

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Aww, i would've loved to love another piece of your making D:
