Repetition isn't a bad thing in music, it's just a matter of how you break up the repetition and make it interesting. I think you've done an okay job at that, although I think that past the halfway point it does need something fresh. Perhaps you could try bringing in a new instrument, a new melody/counter melody, or just switch it to an entire different set of instruments for the hell of it.
Mixing sounds good, although at some parts it sounded a bit overcompressed to me. That said, I work mostly with orchestral so it's probably just a preference thing to me.
Good job so far! Keep it up!
I wish you the best with the competition!

AeronMusic responds:

Yeah. It is a bit overcompressed but I like that. I could have add more instruments but I did not had the time for it. Many thanks for your kind review!

I like your sounds and your style that you have here. There are a few mixing issues I could hear in terms of compression but the biggest issue that I have with this track is that all you have is one theme and variations upon that theme. It would be nice to have heard a second theme at least.
Not bad still, keep it up!

RyeGuyHead responds:

One of the side effects of using a loop pedal is the inherit lack of variation. It is a great platform to experiment with some ideas, however.

Glad you liked it!

This is very enjoyable to listen to! As you've probably heard from everyone else before me, but the beginning is a nice touch to it all. The piano composition is admirable, and it makes me feel rather intimidated by how good you are at it. :P
Keep it up! I wish you the best for the competition!

SoundChris responds:

Thanks HFX :D Glad you enjoyed my little concert experience! Piano always was my main instrument and until i was 16 (already 16 years ago ... omg) or something i wanted to study piano, conduction and composition ... maybe that is the reason why i try to care a lot for the pianos details :)

Thanks for your support and your clapping - highly appreciated!

All the best,
Chris

Not bad!
You've got pretty nice theme and variation here and it was enjoyable. I would say that it is limited by only having one theme though, and I think if you expanded the song to have a secondary theme it would be quite enriching.
Keep it up!

P.S. Scouted you btw!

gordonshadow responds:

Tanks, I'm improving, but i use the free version of the program, so I'm limited, for the moment.
PS: Try to listen to the full history (starting from peacefull kingdom to fall of an hero)
Im working on anotter group of songs. Cya

Had to take a pause in my judging to leave you this -> A BIG THUMBS UP.

If only we could post images in reviews.... no wait that'd be a bad thing.

Anyways, I could say tons more but seriously, very well done!

SkyeWint responds:

Thanks! I gotta know, though...

What is this "tons more" you're talking about? I'd love to know how I can improve. Like, what I did right, what I did wrong, ideas you have to make the piece better, etc. It would be awesome if you could shoot me a PM with that "tons more" at some point, now I'm curious!

So I'm trying to blast my way through listening to all of these AIM submissions, but sir I felt compelled to stop for a moment to leave you a review letting you know how much your submissions are like a blast of fresh compressed air in a sauna. Funky, fresh, and thoroughly enjoyable!

Seriously... you make me feel noob. >.> Get a job with Disney already. xD

steampianist responds:

thank you

and awww c'mon now.. youre no noob

Firstly, this is a thoroughly entertaining track on its own! The groove is great and it's funky spunk is wonderful! It definitely fits the art well and I think you did an excellent job.
One thing I do want to point out is that it does need a section with contrast to the main theme. That would make it more awesome!
Keep it up!

DuttonsaysHi responds:

Hey thanks! Yeah good idea! It seems the main issue was the lack of segments that could prevent repetition. Thanks again for the review!

I think this piece certainly is quite fitting to the art that it accompanies. I like the mixture of genres, and your addition of blues certainly fits the image well. The vox samples are nice and fitting too. A few of the transitions feel kind of rough, like the one at 1:26.
Overall a good piece and well fitting. :)

YouriX responds:

Aaah thank you so much for the lovely review. :D
Glad you liked my song. <3

Long time no see!

It's good to hear from you again! A pretty solid trance track here, although as pointed out before it's a bit repetitive. Then again this is trance so I think it's okay, maybe I guess it depends on the audience type and where they're listening from. Hence radio cuts and all that. xD

Keep making music and don't stop! :D

Mich responds:

Hey there, likewise!

I think most of the relative repetitiveness may be due to the cutting I did; there were sections I couldn't truncate because there was slow automation going on (as mentioned below I just sliced up the master export), so those portions are relatively long.

I make music when I get around to it, don't think I'll ever come to a point where I'll say "I stop.".

Thanks for the review!

Well done! A few mistakes here and there, but hey! You got one song that you can play that I can't! xD
