Great song!

For an ambient piece, this is very well written indeed. :D
It does get a little bit repetitive at times indeed. But I really don't think that it's a problem at all. It works well for this song. I can certainly see this song being used in an animation. Probably being used in a movie in which a protagonist explores underwater ruins. Your title certainly suggests that.
Great song! And great to know you're not dead. :P

nubbinownz responds:

hehe that would be fantastic eh ? hahaha Could you imagine hearing this on the big screen hhaaha

It's a great melody!

It's a nice melody that you have there and you came up with a nice song for it. The only thing that I would think that would make this better is if you came up with a second melody for it also. Something to break it up a little bit.
But great song nonetheless! :D

O.o

Odd.... :P
It's hard to understand half of what's being said. I think I would like to hear an instrumental only version of this.

Although... you should be careful. I found this track because someone messaged me letting me know that they were offended by this. :P

wyldfyre1 responds:

Thanks for the heads up. It was actually for the April fools thing that was going on. I don't really see why anyone would be offended other then the accent LOL. either way, i DO have an instrumental of this posted =). If you want to hear the song I named it (WF1) Shaolin Temple.

Great remix! :D

It's a very good remix that you have here. I'm sure I already said that when you sent me it earlier.
Personally, I don't think that the vocals here are very good. There is too much reverb. Of course, I do have those same vocals so I know it isn't your fault.
The panflute that plays is a really good one. However, at certain points you can hear a little too much "wind". That is the blowing sound that was sampled. Maybe put a low shelf on it so that the blowing sound doesn't stand out so much. That or raise the low cut on the reverb so that it's still there for that "real" feel, but not reverbed out.
The solo lead synth part at 2:03 to 2:24 feels a little empty when the vocals vanish. Reason being that the vocals have so much reverb that when it's gone, it's feels lacking. I think for that part you should add some more reverb to the synth. I can imagine putting the wet volume to 100% and lowering the dry volume to 75% would sound good. Of course, those are guessed out values, you'll have to experiment to see what sounds good. But yeah, add the reverb effect for that one part, and then automate it out when the vocals return. It'll also add additional transition effects. :D
Great song overall! I like what you did here! :D

P.S. Would you believe me if I told you that Pianist's Journey was originally slated to be a remix of You're My Angel? XD

Krussi responds:

Thanks Mel :D
Sorry for the late respond.
Yeah, you're right about the flute being a bit "windy", and I will fix that.
I'll probably remove the vocals, make an own synth melody, and make it into an original track, instead of a remix.

Now when you say it, Pianist's Journey do have an "You're my angel" touch to it :D although it sounds very original :D

Anyhow, thanks alot for your support Mel, and the review and the "8" :D

Cheers <3

Really nicely composed song. :D

I like the waltz that you have here. It's rather lovely. Although it can be improved.

The waltz has good variation and a good melody. Personally I don't see a lot wrong with the waltz itself. The song however has a load of mastering and mixing issues that need work on. Namely it sounds a little flat and Midi-like which drains a lot of the liveliness out of this waltz.

I guess you should spend a little more time working on this and it'll really be a success then.

Good luck in the contest!

P.S. Could you give my contest entry a listen also? :D

Darkmaster603 responds:

Yes, I totally agree. The only problem is my truepiano vst trial has run up on my music laptop so I had to use my peice of crap computer that can only handle one instrument, so I had no idea how it would turn out as a final project. I had to write this in guitar pro, so it is actually a MIDI =P. I'll be re writing this song in FL, so it wont sound as static lol. I actually had to write this in about 5 hours, so I will try to make it less static and add more personal touches to it.

thanks for the review!

Not bad!

This song is well written. The melodic line is well presented and it's very well sung by "Lil Chez". Give her my compliments.
This song is really good, and certainly will be good competition. I wish you the best in the competition! :D

P.S. Could you take a listen to my contest submission?

I like this. :D

This is a pretty good and hip song. I wouldn't really call it classical, it's more of a jazzy band type song. But the melody that you've got there is great. It sounds like a band playing this.
One thing I have about this is that I think that the drums are a little lacking. They're a little too... soft. At least for the heavy part I'd think so.
The electric piano part was nice... although I'd think it'd fit more if it was a harpsichord or a bright piano used since it'd sound more in with the theme.
Make it longer maybe too?

Great song! :D

JohnnyFrizz responds:

Yehh I wasnt sure on what genre to put this, I was presisely between classical and jazz, but I decided it had more jazzy elements on it, so there you go!

About the percussion, I had to make a decision, having powerful drum beats on the heavy parts or cool dynamics on the instruments....the decision wasnt really hard ;D So just to make it clear, my goal was to empathize the brass instruments on the heavy parts.

The electric piano you mentioned is not actually an electric piano, its actually a pretty old organ called the NB-3 Rhodes which was use on the popular 1967 song "A Whiter Shade of Pale" (you can search for it on YouTube) and on many other funk and jazz songs, a real classic, so Im not planning to change it, it has just the right feeling I wanted for this song ;D

Your damn right! I'll definitely make an extended version of this ( ;

Thanks for reviewing Phyrnna!

:D Resident Evil!! :D

I've loved the Resident Evil series. The plotline is always wonderful and so are the games. I particularly like your video game based songs. The quote at the beginning of this was wonderful.
This would work really great in a Resident Evil music video. Although as a standalone song, I'd suggest adding some more audio from the games. Maybe the audio from when Nemesis kills Bill (? I think it's him...).
Great song nonetheless! :D

~Phyrnna ^_^
P.S. Could you check out some of my latest songs?

SkyMarshall responds:

Thanks for an awesome review - and yes - Ive been thinking about doing a Resident Evil-themed song again with actual scoring from the actual games, instead of just vocal-work to set the atmosphere. Somewhere along the line I'll do that. The newest RE-game was EPIC beyond belief, so it needs to be done.

Thanks again :)

Not bad, although could use some more work.

The beginning is actually pretty nice. I liked how you worked that.

The synth part from 1:07 to 1:47 with the lead melody... I think that needs a little work. It's a little... sharp?

The piano after it is pretty nice. The synth after it, same as above. :P

Actually a pretty nice song you have here. A little changes here or there and it'll be good. :D

~Phyrnna ^_^

darphfluffy responds:

The piano is my favorite part next to the sample in the intro.

Nice and hip!

Some of the rhymes could've flowed better, but it's pretty good overall! :D

And I laughed at the line about Asia and classical. :P

Good luck in the contest!

~Phyrnna ^_^
P.S. Mind checking out my contest submission too? :D
