Light and refreshing~

You're right about the chord sequence it's definitely a light uplifting one. And through out the song it has bass, yet it doesn't feel very heavy at all.

In the beginning you have a background synth that's playing behind the lead repetitively. I think that synth sometimes sounds a bit too metallic in some parts. Such as at 0:50 - 1:10. Otherwise it's a good synth that fits well.

The sudden entrance of stuff at 1:10 is really great, it brings a big stand to the song and works well. I certainly want to hear the full version of this whenever you finish it.

The piano that enters at 2:12 is nice, although it sounds a little like it's underwater. It's got a watery ambient feel to it. Not that it's a bad thing really, it kind of fits actually, although if you were aiming for a more HQ piano sound then that isn't quite it.

The ending is... well leaving me hanging. xD Finish it. xP

Good to hear you still making wonderful music. Keep it up my friend.

Really nice song.

This certainly does get that feel across, the feeling of starting on a long journey. It's also got a good melody. ^_^

You've got talent kid, and I'll certainly be a fan of your music for a long time.

P.S. When I post up my submission for Game 3, could you review also?

Zero123Music responds:

Thanks alot :)

and sure I'll review^^

Really nice!

This is a really nice song!

Composition-wise, this song is really good. I like it's structure and it doesn't really get boring. It could possibly use more instruments, but as it is it makes for a great duet.

Sound-wise, this song needs a lot of work. Notably the mixing is non-existent and so is the mastering. Both of which are needed to bring your song to life.

Great song! I hope to see more from you!

ArdyParty responds:

Hey thanks for the comment :) It's my first ever submission so it's much appreciated!
Yeah, I agree, but I don't have any mixing or mastering software, if I did I would have spent a much greater deal of time on it. But as I said, it was composed and in sibelius and exported as a midi, and I had some MIDI to MP3 converter the reverb and slight mastering, although I think I may have over done it :S

Wonderful song yet again

You have quite the wonderful orchestrations here! I've quite enjoyed your music, and this certainly doesn't disappoint. The looping isn't perfect, but hey... can't be perfect with MP3's.

The start is a nice dramatic build up that you have there. You make excellent use of the woodwind instruments for their little bits of chiming in here and there. Really great charm in the music, it's not really "epic" but more of a wide open overworld type of theme. The title certainly befits it well.

The near end part after 0:45 is built up well and has good energy, it reminds me of people riding horses. It's a little short, but otherwise it works well as a break before it loops back again.

Not much complaints about this song from me. ^.^ Wonderfully done! I'm going to download this one onto my IPod.

blackattackbitch responds:

Nice seeing you again, and extremely happy that you downloaded this!

Yeah, I hate how MP3s loop, but I'm not too worried about it.

Glad you like what I did with the woodwinds, I love doing those little melodies for the woodwinds specifically for the atmosphere that they inspire.

The shortness of the end occurred to me post-render. I should have extended it some, and it wouldn't have detracted from the variety too much.

Thanks for the review!

Edirol....?

You have a pretty good song here. The one thing that I want to comment on is the mastering/mixing of the sounds. I understand that you use Edirol (which I also have). Which is great. But the sounds... it seems as if you left them raw and untouched. Which.. when you're keeping to only Edirol sounds, it sounds great. But you've got sounds from outside of Edirol and there is a slight disconnect in how the sounds sound. I would try using EQ to change how that Edirol sounds, and try also looking into combining sounds from more than just Edirol orchestra.
But that's just my suggestions. :P If you don't believe what I say, just go check out some of my songs. :D
Good luck anyways!

BudGPStudios responds:

Check the newer one out, this one isn't very good compared to that...

Really nice!

You have a really nice song here.
The only complaint I would have is the choirs that come in. They sound very gutteral (<-word that came up in head). Not very clear choirs.

But otherwise, a great song! I want to hear the rest.

~Phyrnna ^_^

KTRECORDS responds:

I think I know exactly what you're talkin about. I didn't really put too much effort into mixing yet. The reverb setting I have on it is probably a bit too much for it (the choir that is). It is sure to be fixed by the time the cd actually comes out. Maybe I'll be able to get rid of that "gutterish" sound by then, lol.

Wow, quite a song.

I'm rating this as an eight as a song by itself.
Personally, the quality leaves plenty to be desired, and from the hear of it it seems you recorded it off an electric keyboard that played accompaniment strings in the background. Which is alright... although you could do so much more.

This song has so much potential, I'm faving it. :D

~Phyrnna ^_^

Hahahah. That happened to me too!

That final thing.. yep. So happened to me. I believe Twins of Duality was done right before my Calc final. O_O; Stayed up so late that night... good thing the final wasn't until the middle of the day so that I could sleep.

Anyways, onto the song...

This song is certainly filling with creativity! The lead melody is very good as previously stated below. The only thing that I can think of improving is the mastering on it. Otherwise it sounds great. Notably the piano needs to sound more... real? xD

Great job! :D And good to see you are still around and kicking. xD

PowersWithin responds:

Thank you :D Haha yeah I don't have the ear for mastering yet, gotta work on that.
and I'll use a better piano next time =P this one's from the default FL Studio library XD

Whoa....

That piano needs to be changed.... >_< It's a bad sounding piano.
Maybe I can help you out with that.
The bass itself also needs some mixing... right now it borderline clips.
Yeah... overall this does need some mixing help. Especially at 1:36 where it really clips.
That and your synths need to be a bit smoother.

~Phyrnna ^_^

Malikai123 responds:

Finally someone tries to help lol. Yah I know the synth that comes in during the first main part, I have been messing around with for awhile and cant get it to sound smooth so I might change it all together. But yah I know it needs a new piano for sure lol. You know of one?

But thanks for the review, cause getting good reviews right now is something I actually dont want. I need all the help I can get :p
