You certainly capture the mood very well in this piece. :)
Your instrument choice is good. Mixing could use work. The "lead" instrument stands out a little too much. I think a little reverb would possibly help it fit in better. That or maybe adjusting levels a bit.
Now while the song loops very well, I do have a problem with the song is that it is very... flat? There aren't any parts that stand out from the rest, and as such the piece is kind of monotonic in the mood and could use a secondary theme.
Otherwise, you're still making great music! :D
Keep it up!

This is pretty good! It certainly drags after a while, and there are some mixing issues, but overall I think you have potential! :)
Scouted you also by the way.

And this is why I love your music! Has touches of good nostalgia while carrying your own style. :)
There are a few mixing issues here and there, but I think it's pretty good as is. GJ doesn't give much time to develop songs. xD

Troisnyx responds:

I know how it feels with the mixing... Part of it doesn't feel right. But well, I will be glad to ask for pointers on improving the song nonetheless. I'm glad you loved it. Thanks! ^_^

Wow! This totally sounds like Kirby! xDDD

I'm looking forward to seeing what your team is gonna bring to GJ! :D

Troisnyx responds:

I'm looking forward to it too, except that I probably won't be up at the time of the game's release. ^_^ x

Writing this review to just state that the below review is completely absurd. Apparently this person can't tell piano songs apart because they both use piano.

That's very nice playing! :D
I also like the recording. It's actually pretty decent considering what you're recording with. Of course it also helps that the piano is pretty well in tune. :)
You should do more live recordings! :D

I'm not sure if you're using a MIDI controller for your drums or if you're writing them in a DAW, but they could use some more liveliness. What I mean by that is each of your drum hits sound the same. Now generally a performer will hit that drum about the same each time, but they'll maybe bang it harder for one part, and softer for another. What would make your drums ten times better is if you adjusted the velocity (not speed) on your drums every now and then. Also, as a little trick when you're using drum samples and not real drums, trying hitting different pitches of the drum now and then too. Like maybe a half step up or down. It's subtle enough to not sound too different, but just different enough to replicate a drummer hitting different parts of the drum and getting slightly different pitches.

Just my two cents on your drums. I hope it helps!

SeanRamey responds:

Hey, thanks for giving me some tips! I did do them in a DAW. These drums do have varying velocities, but I can't change the pitches of them, at least I don't how anyways, but thanks for your input! :)

This is a very beautiful piece. I'm quite agreed with what NobleOneNinja said below. The piano is great, although a recording from a real piano would be better. After all, that way you can also capture more emotion. The sax (I think?) is a great subtle touch to it all. I like the simplicity of the song and the emotion it conveys. The song also loops well, as I really didn't notice the looping until I noticed that it had been playing for quite a while.
Very excellent job, and I hope you can find some solace somewhere. If you ever need to talk to someone, I'm here to listen. You know where to find me. ^_^ <3

Take care.

Troisnyx responds:

It was an oboe, not a sax, though I can understand picking one over the other.
Thanks for the review, and I trust we'll speak soon.

Not bad.

I honestly didn't think that the hi hats fit with the drums that you used or the overall mood of the song. I would suggest tambourines or castanets. Your guitar sounds very muffled; you might want to check your velocities.

Your strings sound rather thin. I'm not sure if you were trying to go for an all-string-sections sound or a single-string-section sound. If you're going for the latter, I'd suggest finding a patch/VSTi/soundfont for that specific section. You'd probably use a cello here. If you were going for the former, then I'd suggest looking into vertical harmony and if you want to, figured bass.

I do really like the drums, they sound good. Of course they could use a little more OOMPF, but I like their sound. The main melody that comes in at 0:24 is my favorite part of the song til it ends at 0:40. Now if you included a third motif into this song, you could extend it further. The loop also loops pretty well. I didn't notice that it looped.

Overall, this loop has potential. It has things that can be improved upon, but I'd say there's some good metal in the ore.

Keep it up!
