Great job!

You did a wonderful job of fitting the melody into the 4/4 and the 6/8. For those who aren't theory-oriented in their listening, it probably would sound very natural. I actually listened out for it, so I could hear the difference between the two halves. Still, you did a very excellent job of fitting them together. Although the song it self seems to fit more naturally with 4/4. In 6/8 it's jiving with the rhythm, yet at the same time also stylishly going off beat. :P
Wonderful job!

O_O

It's a good attempt on the cheery side of things.
At 0:27, the lead synth that comes in is a bit weird. I think the synth itself is fine, I just think it needs to be mixed differently or have a few different effects changed around a bit.
1:36, the volume makes the song go cracky. I think that could be fixed easily though with a compressor or something.
Hahaha at the "boing" at 1:56. :P That was whack. You need more of that in the song though. :P Make it part of the beat.
The outro though could have been better. Just a slow down is kind of a let down.
Great job nonetheless.

This works as an ambience.

And it should probably submitted in the ambience category. I don't see this song fitting a sad theme. That and it's a little lacking in the melody area.

I wish you the best of luck for your book. Is it anywhere online where I can check it out?

dark-link666 responds:

Sorry, no, not right now. I'll let you know when there is.

Nice.

It's a nice concept that you have there.
The one thing that I do have to say, is that the guitars were way too subdued there. You could barely hear them. I think you have to bring them out a little more. Raise the volume on their midband a little and a bunch more on the low band. I think that'll give better results.

Jacob78 responds:

Thanks for the review. At first I did have the guitars turned up but then they seemed to over whelm the rest of the song and I didn't like that so I lowerd them some.

Wow, another song!

Certainly not your best. But in and of itself, it's not bad. Sounds like something from Megaman indeed. Got to love those games. :D
You should make more 8-bits. Maybe one for... Mario? XD

Great great!

This is a pretty hip tune.
One thing that I do have to note is that the piano is severely panned to the right. Not that it's bad, but I think it's best to have it only pan a little to the right. Slightly to the right so that it's clear that it's on the right, but not too much so that both sides have a good piano to them. I think that would also help out the synths too since the piano isn't so overpowering on just one side.
I'd like to see the completed product.

P.S. Next time you all do a collab, maybe I can pitch in some! :D

Krussi responds:

Thanks Melody :D
Yeah, now that so say it, it is paned to the right, can't understand why I haven't noticed that before :S Guess we'll fix that when we are about to master the finished piece :P
Why don't you join the Bigsounds forum, I'll PM you the link, alot of friendly NG people and alot of inspiring threads. It's another great way to advertise your music aswell :P And there'll probably be another collab, but not atm, and I think you certainly whould be able to take part of the next collab ^^

Thanks for the review, the pointers and the "8" Melody :)

Cheers

A little repetitive.

I decided to take a listen at your song.
This song is a little repetitive. But that's alright.
What I want to maybe offer advice on is mastering. The sounds are a little muddled. It's not loud enough either.
This is where you can stick a few compressors in.

I'm not sure what software you're using, but if you're using FL:
Put each instrument into its own effect channel.
Apply a multiband compressor on each of them. (Especially that organ.)
For the organ, raise the gain on the bass a bit, and lower it on the high band. Lowering out the high band will take off a bit of the screechiness.
Also, use the compressor to bring out or subdue some of the other instruments. I won't suggest which ones to bring out or subdue, since that's up to personal taste. But you should work on it.

And also another thing you could add is maybe a reverb on the instruments. That would give it a better sound. But perhaps no reverb on the organ. The organ has enough sound of its own and a reverb would just make it muddy.

Work on it a little and it'll be much better.

HaniiPuppy responds:

Noted: Currently adding compression, more reverb, and tweaking the EQs. Will be done in a few days.

EDIT: Editting :P

Final Fantasy fun.

FF9 was a great game over all.
As for the song, it's nice. However I think you could have done more. Namely it needs better mastering. It sounds way too subdued. Almost as if you just took a MIDI and plugged it in. Either way, maybe add a few more effects?

tieguy responds:

I don't know, the effects that I tried to apply messed with the audio in ways that made it sound awkward and stupid. Overall, I opted to keep the Daguerro theme the way it was in the game; pure and clean. Daguerro wasn't an exciting song, it was slow and elegant, easy listening.

What's my motto? Turning Dreams into Reality. That's my motto.
