India Dance!

Great use of the ethnic instruments. It's almost like an electronica dance song... just not! :D I can certainly see this as the music behind a sort of adventure in India. Or better yet, I can also imagine this as background music to some travel video. :D

Great job and well done! Please check out my song for the contest as well!

Thanks a lot!

I didnt think i stuck to the theme well enough but i guess others think i did so thats awesome!

I will definitely check out your song.

Thanks a lot for the review also.

P.S. whats Phyrnna? Is thats your new name?

Nice song.

I don't know the original song, but this song itself is pretty good.
I like the samples that you use here for the drums. They sound good and they fit in.
The flute(?) that comes in at 1:25 is really nice. I like that sound and it is a cool compliment to the synth melody that came before it.
The entrance of the crowd sounds at 2:20 is a little sudden, and also a little distracting. It's alright I guess, but I think the entrance should be more gradual.
Great work!

LK412 responds:

Tyvm! I know exactly what you mean about the crowd. I uploaded it without listening to the whole thing again and then when i showed it to my brother l8er and the crowd came in, was like shit.....

Yes its is a flute and i know i love the sound 2.

Thanks for the awesome review i really appreciate it.

P.S. ill change the crowd when i get the chance.

Nice song.

I particularly liked your use of the organ. Although I do think that the mastering and mixing of the sounds could have been better for the song.

As always your singing is very good and simply amazing.
Keep up the good work!

Cayler responds:

Yes, it definitely could have. I was using a less than up to par mic for this, even though the mic was supposed to be so great when I bought it... lol I used a different setup for Beautiful Eyes and Hallelujah and you can probably tell the difference in mastering quality. I tried hard to make this one work out, but it just wouldn't cooperate. Thank you for giving an honest review. :)

Congrats!

You won first in the electro section of the competition! :D
And you certainly deserve it. This song is pretty good and it has lots of potential and everything! :D
It was also one of those that stood out to me as I listened to the megamix.
Great job!

Thanks heaps! I'm gonna try finish this one. I'm amazed it got 1st :D

This one's already about 1/2 done as a song.
Really glad you liked it.

Lovely song.

The composition of this song is really lovely. The melody and tone is light and cheerful. I certainly do feel the emotion in the song.
I like the part at 1:40 where the strings come back in. It makes for a quite an emotional return.
One thing that I had against this song... is that the levels of the instruments don't seem to work well with each other. I'm not quite sure... but somehow it doesn't seem very live... as in it could be brought to life more. I think perhaps you might want to add more to the strings. Or try using the stereo separation on it a little.
Wonderful song that you have here. Keep it up!

P.S. I'll let you know when I finally get around to finishing my "entry" that never was completed.

Michael425 responds:

It was hard to match the levels of each instrument in this one. I will have to go back and work on that some more.

Thank you for the advice. I'm glad you liked it.

This should be in Represent a Country.

Being Chinese myself, I'd say that this would do very well for the competition of Representing a Country for China. :3

Really nicely done.

As with most of your songs, the sounds are top rate and sound very professional. This song loops very well, and that makes it possibly very good for scenes that could use a loop.
My favorite part of this song was the sung part. Mandi did a very good job singing that part. Especially at the exit of the voice where she pitch bended out.
The strings that come after it are really nice. I don't think I can get that same sound out of my strings (soundfonts.... >_<). But wonderfully composed!

-HFX ^_^

MaestroRage responds:

Thanks HFX! Those strings are a blend to be honest. I've realized that no single string patch is going to cut the cheese anymore. The best string sounds come from blending a variation of strings to make them sound more flawed, which ironically, makes them more realistic.

Thanks for the review, i'm glad you liked it!

Oooh nice. :3

The intro sound effect that pans from left to right is really great and sets the mood. The piano has a nice sound to it. Personally I would've softened it a little bit.
The pad that enters in at 0:17 fits well into the song. Presuming that it's a synth pad, I wonder if it would sound better if you EQ'd the high frequencies up a little. Just a guess, but you're free to try that.
At 1:08 where the piano arps, that's really nicely done. The only thing is that there is a little distortion. From 1:19 to 1:21 is where it's most audible. The piano and the pad clash with each other there. Not as in bad harmonics, but they kind of cancel each other out and muddy themselves.
From 2:25 to the end, I like it. It sounds nice and calm. :D Although I do think that you could have ended with a better cadence than the one you used.
Great job! You're improving lots!

LK412 responds:

Thanks a lot for the review. I don't know how to fix the distortion so if you could tell me that would be awesome. Thanks for the tips and the review i really appreciate it.

Happy?

That's what came to my mind while hearing this. To me this song is rather upbeat. I don't think Heavy quite fits it as a title.
It's a nice upbeat song. I like it.
Oh, and I voted. 5/5 for you. :P

Thanks n.n I'm not really sure myself where I got the name from exactly :P

Choirs = win.

Hmm... for some reason I don't recall having heard the guitar when I played Sonny... did you add them in? O.o Or is my memory just failing me? xD What did you use for the guitar? EWQL stuff again?

My favorite part about this is the choir. As always, I love the use of choirs. But for some reason the choir in this song seems a lot weaker than the choirs in Four Champions. Also... the overall volume of the song seems a lot quieter than what you have in Heroic Confrontation. Was that to preserve dynamics? Because I kind of think you could raise the volume on this a little without adversely affecting the song.

Either way great song, and a good part of the Sonny soundtrack.

-HFX ^_^

DavidOrr responds:

I just uploaded a new version, and the choirs a brought out more. They aren't going to have to same impact as in Four Brave Champions because they serve a different purpose. In Four Brave Champions the choirs stood at the front of the piece to pump up the listener. Here, they're much more supportive, giving a eerie color to parts of the piece.

I've also bumped up the volume a bit- but not too much. My old stuff was overly compressed and clipped a bit too much in places- ideally you want the max volume levels to slightly lap over the clipping lines, and I try to adhere to that rule as much as possible. Thanks for the review!
