First review? ^_^

Bassy goodness indeed. There's a good bass on this song.

The guitar sound that starts off the song sounds nice. At 0:13 it seems that you applied a filter on it? Or is it just another synth on top of that? Either way, it sounds nice. Although it is a little muffled. That might be the sound that you're looking for. But if you were looking for a more clearer sound, it'd probably be best to EQ the sound a bit differently. Adding a peaking point in the treble a few octaves above the bass usually makes it sound more crisp and clear.

The kick that enters in at 0:20 is nice. It's not as strong as many other kicks that people use. But it fits this song just fine in my opinion. After all, you already got a strong bass going in the background and the kick doesn't overpower or conflict with that bass.

The stick-ish sound effect that you added at 0:24 is nice with the reverb effect. It has a nice surround sound feel to it by the way you applied the reverb. No complaints there. The sound that followed right after it at 0:25 is nice too. Although later in the song at 1:28 to 1:48 it seems to get covered up by the hats and snares(?).

The lead instrument that comes in at 0:48 sounds interesting. It fits, although to me I think the reverb on it seems a bit too wet. Maybe you could lower the level of the wet signal in the reverb a bit?

The break from 1:49 to 2:02 is short. Which isn't bad, but it just feels rather empty and doesn't seem to help with the flow of the music.

The clap from that point afterwards is nice with the modifications to the echoes. Although I think that from 2:31 to 2:44, it shouldn't have that much echo to it. I sounds out of place with the relative quietness of the song. Same goes for that stick sound effect at 2:55. Less reverb on those.

Good song over all, and a good improvement. ^_^
I hope my review helps. :D Although I myself am not as established really. >_<

That's quite a long, and useful review. Exactly what I was looking for! Every single aspect you look at and tell weather it fits or not, I like.

And cough, not established? Last I heard you had a song in the weekly top 5, AND in the all-time top 30.

Thanks a lot for the review, it sure does help! ;D

Too short.

Understandable though since it's for the collab. But it sounds like a great intro! Something that I can see as an intro to a game or flash also. The heavy chord at the beginning is a very nice contrast to the light running of notes that follow it.
Great job! I'd like it if you could make this a full song. :3

shizeet responds:

Yeah, it really is too short, but I was trying to keep it within the time constraints. You can probably tell the ending part was really sudden cause I realized I had already gone over :P. I was definitely trying to make this stand out more dynamically and texturally, since it doesn't really have a melody to it heh - glad it worked, though :). Oh, and I'll check yours out right away - thanks for the review!

EXCELLENT!

Hahaha, I just had to put that in caps.
But really, I do think that! I was hoping to hear a song like this in the collab. One of these fast songs that jump about. Great! :D
Awesome job!

will do, and thanks for the compliment XD

Hmm.

This sounds more like an introduction. Although with only 0:34, there's only so much that you can fit into a song. Great job! If you could extend this into a full song, that would be awesome.

alternativesolution responds:

Actually, I was considering extending it. The time limit had just occurred to me when I was composing even more, so I had to break it off and export for this collab. Then again, THIS was before the 40 sec limit had replaced 30secs.
Thanks!

Emotional indeed.

This is certainly emotional enough. It sounds great, and the strings are a nice touch. The only thing that sounds weird is that the piano seems to be panned off to the left a little. Makes the piece sound off balance?
Great job nonetheless.

BlazingDragon responds:

Your right, I did pan the piano to the right. I have very little experience with mastering and was experimenting. The strings and piano together sounded a bit muddy to me, so I wanted to seperate them. Perhaps it was not the best idea, lol. :P

Thank you for the review! :D

Pretty good.

I like the chords. Delicious sounding. :3 And very good for someone who doesn't play the piano.
The chord that comes in at 0:03 sounds weird there. Some discord going on. Maybe you should look into that.
Great job nonetheless.

gregaaron89 responds:

*checks* Nah that's just a diminished F minor chord. (technically it's acceptable :3) I use 7ths a lot in my music. If I raised the top note from an E to an F it would be a standard F minor but since the top note was E in the first bar I thought it sounded cool how it flowed. I like it better this way :P

Thanks for the review, and sure I'll leave you one too.

Full song!

Even if it does make it in, you should make this a full song. :3 I'd like to see what you can come up with.
It certainly can use some more work. The mastering needs to be changed a bit too.
What did you use for your piano? FL Keys?

Lamplighter responds:

Yup, I'm making it into a full song. I'm going to fix the mechanical side, and actually do some mixing and stuff when I get somewhere with it. And for my piano I use the Steinberg Piano soundfont... I'll pm you with a link.

I'll definitely check out your song, and thanks for the review!

Really nice.

Nice submission. It's nice, quiet, and sounds like it would fit into an emotional scene of a movie. I'd certainly love to hear the completed version of this song. It'll probably be very lovely.

Tamadrum responds:

I'll check that out now... :)

Certainly an improvement.

The song is certainly an improvement from the last time I checked on your songs. It's nice to see that you're making good progress.
Let's see. It's a nice tune. The main problem I have with the song is the piano. The guitar also sounds weird, but to me my focus is the piano. It is similar to a piano, but it's way too synthesized to sound acoustic. I'd recommend using a different VSTi.
I'd like to hear the finished product.

LK412 responds:

Thanks for the review and the compliment. Could you recommend any VSti's? That would be awesome. Also the guitar does the melopdy sound wierd or the sound of it? Im not sure about both. Thanks for the review again.
